City Gas to Sponsor Integration Activity by Indian Restaurants Association Singapore

1 June 2012

City Gas is honoured to be one of the key sponsors for Indian Restaurants Association (Singapore) (IRA(S)) annual Food Festival, “Seafood Mela”. The Food Festival is held in conjunction with this year’s Singapore Food Festival from 30th June to 31 July 2012.

“Seafood Mela” will be held along Race Course Road and one of the key events that will be held during this Food Festival is a Cooking Competition to be held on 7th and 13th July. City Gas will be sponsoring the cash prizes that will be awarded to the winners of the Cooking Competition.

In line with calls  from the government  for more  integration activities within the local community, the IRA(S) – City Gas Cooking Competition – Family Challenge held on 7th July will be open to locals and new citizens of Singapore to participate together. This Cooking Competition is an initiative from IRA(S) with a two-pronged agenda, to create opportunities for locals and new citizens to meet and get to know each other. It also becomes a platform for families to bond together as each team is required to field 2 parents and 1 child.

There will be another Cooking Competition held on 13th July, titled IRA(S) – City Gas International Seafood Chef Competition, where international chefs from India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, and Bangladesh will be invited to serve up their own take of the competition theme – Indian seafood. They will be competing to create their best interpretation of a Seafood dish with a dash of traditional Indian cuisine flavour. The chef who serves up the best dishes will be awarded with cash prizes as well.

Mr Ng Yong Hwee, President & CEO of City Gas Pte Ltd commented, “Beyond a gas provider for Singapore, City Gas as an organization has always strived to help the social community in any way. It is our honour to be a key sponsor for Seafood Mela and to assist in their mission to promote social integration and family bonding.”
