City Gas Pte Ltd, as Trustee of City Gas Trust, announced today that the gas tariff for households will be reduced by 2.8%, from 22.16 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) to 21.54 cents per kWh with effect from 1 Aug 2012. The reduction in the average town gas bill for households will range from 30 cents a month for 1-room HDB flats to 52 cents a month for 5-room HDB flats.
Gas tariffs are reviewed quarterly and adjusted in line with changes in the cost of fuel for gas production. The tariff reduction for the coming quarter is due to lower fuel prices. The average fuel price over the last three months (in S$ terms) has reduced by 8.1%.
City Gas reviews the gas tariffs based on guidelines set by the Energy Market Authority (EMA), the gas industry regulator. The revised gas tariffs, which have been approved by EMA to take effect from 1 Aug 2012, are as follows:
