City Gas Pte Ltd as Trustee of City Gas Trust announced today that the gas tariff for households will increase by 1.3%, from 21.17 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) to 21.45 cents per kWh with effect from 1 Feb 2012. The increase in the average town gas bill for households will range from 13 cents a month for 1-room HDB flats to 24 cents a month for 5-room HDB flats.
Gas tariffs are reviewed quarterly and adjusted in line with changes in the cost of fuel for gas production. The tariffs increase for the coming quarter is due to higher fuel prices (in S$ terms). Fuel prices over the last three months have on average increased by 3.5% from S$122.05/bbl to S$126.29/bbl.
City Gas reviews the gas tariffs based on guidelines set by the Energy Market Authority (EMA), the gas industry regulator. The revised gas tariffs, which have been approved by EMA to take effect from 1 Feb 2012, are as follows:
