City Gas Pte Ltd, as Trustee of City Gas Trust, announced today that the gas tariff for households will decrease by 4.6% or 0.77 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh), from 16.80 cents per kWh to 16.03 cents per kWh for the period 1 May to 31 July 2016. The decrease is due to a 25.1% drop in fuel costs compared to the previous quarter, which is partly offset by an increase in the cost of transporting town gas due to infrastructure investment to replace aging assets.
City Gas reviews the gas tariffs based on guidelines set by the Energy Market Authority (EMA), the gas industry regulator. The revised gas tariffs below have been approved by EMA:
