City Energy announced today that the town gas tariff (before 9% GST) for households will increase by 0.24 cent per kilowatt hour (kWh), from 21.68 cents per kWh to 21.92 cents per kWh for the period from 1 April 2026 to 30 June 2026 due to higher fuel cost compared with the previous quarter.
City Energy reviews the town gas tariffs every quarter based on guidelines set by the Energy Market Authority (EMA). The fuel cost component of the town gas tariff for each quarter is set using the average fuel prices in the first two and a half months in the preceding quarter. Accordingly, the fuel cost component of the town gas tariffs from 1 April 2026 to 30 June 2026 reflects the fuel prices from 1 January 2026 to 15 March 2026, which incorporates the increase in fuel prices due to the Middle East conflict only from 28 February 2026. The town gas tariffs in the subsequent quarters are expected to increase further as the full effect of the elevated fuel prices are incorporated.
The revised gas tariffs below have been approved by EMA:
