Town Gas Tariff Revision for the Period from 1 July 2026 to 30 September 2026

30 June 2026

City Energy announced today that the town gas tariff (before 9% GST) for households will increase by 1.56 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) or 7.1% from 21.92 cents per kWh to 23.48 cents per kWh for the period from 1 July 2026 to 30 September 2026. The increase is due to higher fuel cost compared with the previous quarter.

City Energy reviews the gas tariff every quarter based on guidelines set by the Energy Market Authority (EMA). The fuel cost component of the gas tariff for each quarter is set using the average fuel prices in the first two and a half months in the preceding quarter. Accordingly, the fuel cost component of the town gas tariff from 1 July 2026 to 30 September 2026 reflects fuel prices which have increased significantly between 1 April 2026 to 15 June 2026 due to the Middle East conflict.

Changes in global fuel prices take some time to be reflected in the town gas tariffs. This was the case when the town gas tariff for households for 1 April to 30 June 2026 rose by 0.24 cents per kWh or 1.1%, as only the elevated gas prices from 28 February (when the Middle East conflict started) to 15 March 2026 were reflected.

The situation in the Middle East remains uncertain. Should the situation improve, global fuel prices and correspondingly the town gas tariffs for the fourth quarter of 2026 may decrease.
